A fully chromatic instrument as used in Belarus. This is a sturdily built instrument with the range g-b3 where c1 is middle c on a piano. Timbers used on the tsimbaly illustrated are:
Wrestplanks: European beech
Fascias: Tasmanian blackwood
Strings are steel piano wire with 6 wound courses in the bass. These are strung to high tensions and at the ideal tensile stress to give a loud, rich tone. It is a delight to play.
